Drik Panchang Today

This is the daily drik panchang, calculated for Dhaka. Drik means the reckoning is done by modern astronomy, from where the sun and moon actually are in the sky. You will find the exact times when the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana change, along with the day's auspicious and inauspicious periods. Printed Bengali almanacs follow the older Surya Siddhanta method, and you can see that reckoning on the Bengali Panjika page.

Festivals & Vrats

  • Pradosh Vrat
Printed almanacs work this day out with the older Surya Siddhanta method. That shifts tithi times by a few minutes, and now and then moves a festival by a day. See the traditional panjika →

How These Times Are Calculated

  • All times are calculated for Dhaka and shown in Bangladesh time, using the Lahiri (Chitra Paksha) ayanamsa.
  • The tithi listed first is the udaya tithi, the one running at sunrise. By tradition this is the tithi used to fix the day of a vrat or festival.
  • Periods like Rahu Kaal and Abhijit Muhurta are worked out from sunrise and sunset, so they will be a few minutes different in cities other than Dhaka.
  • Printed almanacs such as Bisuddha Siddhanta and Gupta Press can differ from these times by a few minutes, and now and then by a whole day.
