How is this different from the Panchang page?

The Panchang page uses modern astronomy (drik). This page uses the classical Surya Siddhanta method that printed Bengali almanacs such as Loknath and Gupta Press follow, so tithi end times differ by minutes and a festival can occasionally fall a day apart.

Why does the panjika date differ from the Bangla Academy date?

The traditional date starts each month the day after the sun's sankranti, giving months of 29 to 32 days. The Bangla Academy calendar fixes month lengths, so the two drift apart by one or two days.

What are danda and pala?

A danda is 24 minutes and a pala is 24 seconds, counted from sunrise. Almanacs print tithi end times this way alongside the clock time.

What are kalabela and barabela?

Daylight is divided into eight parts and each weekday has fixed inauspicious eighths, called kalabela and barabela. New undertakings are traditionally avoided during them.

Which sunrise is used?

The almanac sunrise is the sun's centre on the mathematical horizon at the traditional reference meridian of Bengal, which is what printed almanacs use. True Dhaka sunrise is shown beside it.
