Bengali year 1436 has 22 public holidays. A Bengali year runs from mid-April to the following mid-April, so both the count and the grouping differ a little from the January to December list.

Yes. Government offices, banks and schools are closed on holidays declared in the gazette, and most private offices follow the same list. Emergency services such as hospitals and the fire service stay open.

Do public holiday dates change every year in Bangladesh?

Not all of them. Pohela Boishakh is always 1 Boishakh, which is 14 April. Independence Day and Victory Day are fixed as well, on 12 Chaitra and 1 Poush. Islamic holidays such as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha follow the moon, so they come about eleven days earlier each year on the Bengali calendar too.

What are the major national holidays in Bangladesh?
