How to read the grid

The week starts on Friday, as in printed Bangladeshi almanacs, and the Friday and Saturday weekend columns are shaded. In each cell the large number is the Bengali date, with the English and Hijri dates in small type beneath it. Public holidays are red and today is outlined. Clicking a cell shows that day's weekday, season, holiday and all three calendar dates together.

The year and month selectors above jump to any month, and every month has its own address, such as /calendar/1440/1. A month grid can be downloaded as a PDF or an image for printing. If you want Bengali month starts and holidays inside your phone's calendar app, there is a subscription feed; add it once and it updates itself every year.

Which English year is which Bengali year

Subtract 593 from the English year for dates from 14 April onward, or 594 before it. So 2033 is 1440 from 14 April, and 2034 is 1440 until 13 April, then 1441. For a date on a land deed or an old document, use the date converter; dates before 1394 were kept under the earlier almanac and can differ by one to three days.
