Bangla Date API

A free public JSON API that converts any Gregorian date to the Bengali (Bangla Academy), Hijri (Islamic) and Hindu (Vikram Samvat) calendars in one call. The response also carries the Bengali season, tithi, nakshatra and Bangladesh holidays. There is no API key and no signup, and CORS is enabled so you can call it from the browser.

Endpoint

Send a GET request with an optional date parameter. Omit it to get today's date in Bangladesh (Asia/Dhaka).

Parameters

Parameter	Type	Description
`date`	string	The Gregorian date to convert, in YYYY-MM-DD format (e.g. 2026-04-14). It is optional and defaults to today in Bangladesh. Supported years: 1900–2199.

Rate limits, caching & CORS

60 requests per minute per IP. When exceeded, the API returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header.
Responses for explicit dates are cacheable for 24 hours (Cache-Control is set), so cache them on your side too.
CORS is fully open (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *), so you can call the API directly from browser JavaScript.

Accuracy notes

Bengali dates follow the official Bangla Academy calendar (1987 reform, 2019 revision) used in Bangladesh.
Hijri dates use a tabular calculation adjusted for Bangladesh (Islamic Foundation convention). Actual dates may vary by ±1 day depending on moon sighting.
Hindu panchang data (tithi, nakshatra, masa) is astronomically calculated for the Indian standard meridian.

The API is free for personal and commercial projects. If it powers something public, such as an app, a widget or a website, a visible link back to BanglaDateToday is appreciated. It helps keep the service free for everyone.
